28 Kashmiri youngsters crack IIT-JEE Mains: All Thanks To Indian Army’s Kashmir Super 40

Kashmiri students cracked the prestigious IIT-JEE Mains Exam 2017

Amidst news of stone pelting and clashes in Kashmir, comes a story of hope and optimism from the valley. This story is about the Indian Army’s ‘Kashmir Super-40’ initiative under which 28 Kashmiri students cracked the prestigious IIT-JEE Mains Exam 2017. This is the first time that with a success rate of 78% the result of Indian army’s Kashmir Super-40 has outperformed the other best IIT coaching centers.
Despite the violence caused by the stone pelters and clashes between militants and security forces, these youngsters defied all the odds and achieved their goals. The army too did not let even a single class of the coaching to be cancelled whatever the condition was in the streets. Every class of the Kashmir Super-40 initiative took place as per the schedule under the security of forces in Kashmir. Following the hard work by the army and the conscious of the students to choose the right path, Kashmir Super-40 became a huge success.

Twenty-six boys and two girls who cleared the JEE Mains 2017 hail mostly from the village areas of North Kashmir (10),South Kashmir (9), Kargil (7) and Jammu (2).

Kashmir Super-40 scheme is initiated by the Indian army to provide free coaching for engineering entrance exam to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. This initiative is sponsored under CSR initiative by Petronet LNG. Under this initiative,students are selected by the army through an entrance test and interview conducted at various colleges of Jammu and Kashmir in April or May. Thus, the selected candidates are provided free coaching and free accommodation.

This batch is first of its kind in which five girls were coached for JEE Mains out of which two cracked the entrance exam. After the success of Kashmir Super-40 initiative, now the Indian army decided to upgrade the scheme to Kashmir Super-50 in which 5 students will be girls.This initiative by the Indian army is a great platform for the underprivileged students of Jammu and Kashmir to showcase their talent and to outshine in their lives.
